Learning All About Insurance Policies

My name is Eric Bowman, and if you have questions about insurance, this is the blog you need to read. I was always confused when I had to purchase insurance. I would either end up paying for insurance I didn't need or I wouldn't buy the right policy. I finally decided that I was going to learn all I could about insurance policies so that I would understand exactly what I was buying. Now, I am completely satisfied with my insurance and the coverage is just what I need. I realized that there are others who are probably just as confused as I was, so I am writing this blog to help others get the best insurance for their needs and budget. I hope that my blog gives you the information you need to make the right choices when purchasing insurance.

Auto Insurance Tips to Remember When Traveling This Holiday Season

Anthony Rhodes

The holiday season is a time for travel for many people across the country. While your auto insurance policy will likely cover you for an out of state accident, there are a number of situations where you might want to double-check your current policy to see whether or not you will have coverage. Here are some auto insurance tips to keep in mind this holiday season.

Your Car Rental Is Likely Covered, But It's Good to Be Sure

Many car rental companies make additional money by selling a rental insurance policy along with the rental. But did you know that many car insurance policies include coverage for drivers in this situation? In other words, your current policy may provide coverage not just for your main vehicle but for the rental you pick up when you are away from home for the holidays. Still, it's a good idea to double-check this. If you find that your current auto insurance provider does not cover rentals, you may want to inquire about adding this coverage or just going ahead and getting insurance from the car rental company after all.

Long Term Stays Might Be Trouble

Are you heading to another state for the holiday season and staying there for 30 days or more? If you will be ringing in the New Year and then some in a different state, you might want to make sure your current policy offers coverage for that length of time. A long term stay in another state may require an update to your current policy in order to ensure you maintain your coverage.

International Trips May Be a Different Story

If you are going overseas or even just down to Mexico for the holidays and you will be renting a car or driving your own vehicle across the border, it's possible that you won't be taking your auto insurance policy with you. Talk to your current provider about your upcoming trip and make sure you do whatever is necessary to ensure that you are covered for international travel. Getting into an accident is bad enough, but finding out you don't have coverage because it happened out of the country will make a bad situation even worse.

Most auto insurance policies cover travel out of state for the holidays, but there are some scenarios where you might want to do additional research and make sure that you have the coverage that you need. Talk to an auto insurance company, such as LA Insurance, for more information.
